Oman awards RO 734 million of government contracts in the first seven months of 2026

Oman awarded 74 government contracts worth a combined RO 734 million during the first seven months of 2026, and issued a further 60 tenders valued at an estimated RO 365 million.

The largest single award — more than RO 200 million — was for the supply of pharmaceuticals, vaccines and serums. In construction terms, the headline award was the RO 157 million expansion of the Muscat Expressway, intended to add road capacity and improve traffic flow as the capital grows.

Other reported awards include the RO 36.8 million Mahout fishing port in Al Wusta Governorate, the Sur Cultural and Youth Centre at more than RO 3.5 million, and the Oman Genome Centre and Biobank in Muscat Governorate at RO 4.2 million.

The award and tender mix spans healthcare, roads, flood protection and digital infrastructure — a spread that suggests sustained public spending on services and resilience rather than a single-sector spike.
